I Heart the Garden City

Yeah we do.

For only NZ$20 you'll receive a hot new item for your wardrobe, you'll be donating money to the NZ Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal and you'll earn yourself some sweet good karma. Purchase away little ones. Nice work to the team at DNA Design for such a great idea.

The only question is...white or black?

Kia ora bro.

Sometimes you just feel like purchasing something to congratulate yourself, or to brighten up your day. Today I plan to do just that with this number below...to congratulate myself for peservering & finding a dream job and to brighten up yet another grey drizzly London day.

Am loving the colours and selection of goodies in Zara at the moment...so cheerful and fun! I especially love the colour of this top, it reminds me of the OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries shade! I also adore the sleeve detailing, smart casual much? PERFECT for my new smart casual office environment. Win!

Hope you're all having a great weekend. My thoughts are out of all of those affected by the Christchurch earthquake...what a horrible situation for poor NZ. Much love.

'Tis the Season!

The season that is, for FASHION! Fashion Week started in London today & you can definitely feel the stylish vibe in the city...the tube was crammed with well dressed individuals this morning (much to my delight), my favourite free magazine, Stylist, was stuffed with satorial information (read the online version here) and all of the big fashion heavyweights are here! Yours truly is also feeling inspired...this morning I chose to wear more of a Londonesque outfit: ruched singlet, high waisted floral skirt, thigh-high woollen socks, heeled booties & a topknot. And thank god I did, because I've already seen one major celeb today and it's only mid-morning! Who knows how many other members of fashion's elite I'll be bumping into this week!

I can feel my sense of style morphing from Kiwi to Londoner each day - less black, more alternative & edgy clothing. This week I even purchased some sunnies that I would never have really considered wearing back home. To me these are classic London (preppy meets alternative) and the best part is, they were only £2 from Primark! Bargain!

Happy London Fashion Week everyone!

P.S. - Big ups to one of my blog sisters who is getting rave reviews for her amazing food blog, Heartbreak Pie, & who recently appeared on a top NZ morning show. Check it out here if you want to be entertained & pick up some great cuisine tips!

Chromosome Y? Chromosome Tie.

As you've probably already noticed, masculinity is at the forefront of women's fashion at the moment. Confusing? No. Androgynous? Maybe. More comfortable? Definitely. Walking around in boyfriend jeans or an oversized shirt is a lot more relaxing than flouncing around in a body con dress or a mini! One of my favourite features of this testosterone-inspired trend is the humble bow tie. Favoured by the likes of The Man Repeller, Chloe Sevigny and Rachel Bilson, this little accessory is definitely having its time in the spotlight!

There are numerous different bow ties around, but one brand that hits the nail on the head is Marwood. I'm currently lusting after a black lace bow tie (as well as a velvet one), so the Marwood range is right up my alley. Their geometric lace bow tie would have to be my fave, as it brings a feminine element to this masculine piece.

Marwood also have an online sketchbook which takes the form of a blog - check this out to see new products, plus the source of their inspiration. It's pretty neat to see their thought process. Marwood also have a selection of ties (not surprisingly), so it could be the perfect place to find a Valentine's Day present for your lover, no matter what their gender!

I hope you all have a great weekend, I'm off to Paris, can't wait!

Timeless Triwa

Just under a year ago, I did a post on watches, and mentioned my love for the more masculine styles. So you can imagine my excitement when I spotted this BEAUTY on the GAG website. I adore all of the detailing on this Triwa bad boy, from the three dials to the leather strap, to the earthy tones and the stainless steel features. And the fact that this model is called Nevil? Icing on the cake.

After seeing this, I checked out the Triwa site and was very impressed with the beautiful selection of both watches and cuffs that they have available. Go the Swedes for creating such classy time-keeping accessories. The Nevil Raven in tan is definitely my favourite, but here are the two runners-up in my opinion.

This model is more of a formal slash going-out-at-night piece than the one above. I love the black & gold colour combo - very slick Rick. I can imagine Mr. 007 wearing something like this...or myself (hint hint, nudge nudge, buy this for me you generous thing you).

Now this is similar to the Nevil Raven, but has slightly altered features. So same same, but different. The poppingly bright colour of the strap is really what caught my eye, and we all know how in brights are right now! I can imagine this looking amazing with a khaki jacket, high-waisted black trousers and killer heels. H.O.T.

So if any of you are wondering what to get me for Valentine's Day, now you know (take a hint people). Triwa watches are actually quite reasonably priced too, compared to some of the other watch brands out there (see how I'm justifying this purchase for you)! I noticed that Triwa have several London stockists too...how dangerous (or convenient for you).

Breton Brilliance.

Is there anything better than a new classic white tee? I think not. Especially when it is baggy, with French stripes & a designer touch.

I really want this Breton number from KW - maybe I love it so much due to the fact that...

* It's a clear day in London today, so I can see both the sun AND the sky. Which makes me think of warmer weather...

* It's February now which means spring officially starts NEXT MONTH!

* I'm off to Paris next weekend so am favouring clothes with a certain je ne sais quoi...

* I'm missing popping into my local KW store back home.

* It's Waitangi Day this weekend so I'm loving all things from Aotearoa.

* I just want it.

Hope you're all having a fantastique day! Enjoy the sun while it lasts!
