Sweet Acid Drops

As I've mentioned earlier, spring is almost upon us and one of the top trends for SS11 is acid brights. I'm a huge fan of colour, so the idea of pairing one bright item with another is enough to give me a mean lady boner. What better way to grab the attention of your friends, co-workers and that cutie on the tube, than by wearing an outfit so colourful that they'll think they're tripping (get it...)! So get out your sunnies my friends, this post is gonna blind you!

This fuschia dress from Nasty Gal is hot hot hot! So hot in fact, that the model has to wear sunnies in order not to blind herself! I love the fact that it's one-shouldered, and I heart the detailing on the shoulder itself. What a hot colour, made even hotter by the fact that a pale girl can pull it off...good news for us English roses!

This Alice McCall dress SCREAMS summer, warmth and beachy times to me. I really like the beautiful pattern around the neck, and also like the fact that the colour of this dress is called 'pollen' - cute. I can imagine wearing this to one of those fun outdoor garden parties that starts off mellow and turns into a raver as the night goes on!

Unsure about whether to go for a bright tangerine tee, hot lemon leggings or stunning pink pants? Why not go for one multi-coloured acid bright blazer! This Josh Goot number puts an end to your colour crises, by combining several rainbow brights into one beauty! Wear over the top of an equally bright dress, if you dare.

I had so much fun looking on NET-A-PORTER for items for this post - they have a whole section of bright coloured clothing, which could keep me entertained for hours! This maxi dress by Mara Hoffman is just devine, I love the popping pink colour, mixed with the subtle embroided detailing on the front. This dress really reminds me of Sydney-siders and I'm not sure why? Maybe because it makes me think of hot bronzed beachy bodies!

Where there's a trend, there's ASOS. I love the way ASOS have incorporated the brights theme into a somewhat demure dress style. This dress would be the perfect way to bring satorial style into the corporate workplace - win for the fashionable employee!

For those of you who aren't shy of a bit of brilliant colour-loving, try opting for the multi-coloured Suno Flounce skirt! I really like how this has been paired with a baggy white tee and muted tonal patents, it helps the skirt to POP even more!

Jazz up a crisp spring day with this beauty from Easton Pearson! This dress looks both super comfy & flattering to wear, due to its baggy design. A great dress for the races, or for when you want to wear something more inspiring than your classic LBD.

This bag makes me want to plan an overnight getaway pronto! What better way to get excited about the journey ahead (or even a trip to the gym) than with this Mulberry babe-a-rama! Maybe I should invest in this for my upcoming weekend away to Paris? C'est tres fantastique, non?

For those of you who shy away from bright colours, and can't break the monochromatic habit (Mum, I'm looking at you), try a spot of razzle dazzle bright power on your nails. OPI have had a selection of bright shades for a while, but this bad boy is new to their collection. Acid bright nails are a great way to stay on trend, without feeling out of your colour comfort zone!

For those long-legged lank daddys of you out there, highlight your stunning pins with these sunshine sweetners from the TRF range at Zara. With four eye-popping colours to choose from, this shade is my pick as it symbolises spring & fun times.

Skip your way into the warmer months with these tangerine tyrants from Lanvin. Soft, comfy and hue-tastic, they'll definitely help to bring you in SS11 in style. Sweet.

Now this definitely my favourite item of the lot. What a great way to show the corporate world that you're a confident, sassy and on-trend stylista! I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to own this vivacious 3.1 Phillip Lim blazer & would wear it every chance that I got. Sigh, I'm in love.

Phew, with so many acidicly-bright beauties out there, there's no reason not to get your colour freak on! Pop on a bright number and strut your stuff girlfriend! I know I will!

The Satorial Swan

I went to Black Swan last night with my girls and jeepers creepers did it leave an impression on me. The movie was a lot darker than any of us imagined, and resulted in us hiding behind our jackets during some pretty twisted and gory scenes. In saying that, I can see why it's getting rave reviews and no doubt will win many awards. The costume design was amazing too, and got me thinking about how heavily fashion is influenced by ballet today. As an ex-ballerina, I adore this trend, so I've had a wee browse and found numerous ballet-inspired items around...

Now if this skirt doesn't scream Swan Lake then I don't know what does. Jason Wu was clearly channelling the White Swan when he created this ostrich feather-embellished cotton skirt. Pair this little princess with an AA leotard and some gorgeous Chloé ballet flats and you'll be one pirouette away from ballet-chic!

Channel your inner Black Swan with this feather corset dress from ASOS. With a hint of the classic tutu, this dress will stun those around you with the intricate beading & feather detailing. You'll be able to chassér your way through any event with this darling!

ASOS seems to have a love affair with the ballerina trend, as evident by this ruffle and beaded mini skirt below. I think the textured design, muted tones and the high waist all give a nod to ballet, femininity and beauty. I heart.

Finally, no swan can be complete without her feathers. Pearl & Ivy is a great wee company which has a range of feathered hairbands that are TO DIE FOR. I really want the whole collection and will definitely pick up one for the warmer seasons from either Spitafield or Portobello markets. This band would definitely transform you from an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan!

Now my fashionable feathered friends, feel free to tie your hair in a top knot, crank out your ballet flats, your leo & your prettiest mini and plié by your barre to your hearts content! I know I sure will!

Putting a Spring in My Step

You know that spring is just around the corner when you start seeing florals, pastels and frills in stores. And since the sun is shining today (yay London!), I figured it was time to check out the latest arrivals online. There's definitely a 70's vibe within the spring collections, plus a focus on pink shades, as well as beautiful feminine detailing...see some of my favourite picks below!

Wow I heart the colour of this dress big time! The colour screams warmth, sunny days and most of all, fun times! I would love to wear this baby, although would need a serious tan before I even tried it on! Now where did I put my St Tropez?

I fell in love with this singlet as soon as I saw it instore. So floaty and fresh, I can imagine it looking great with a crisp white singlet, or just a bikini top underneath when on holiday at the beach! Perfect dressy and casual, this singlet would definitely put a spring in your step (excuse the pun)!

I'm a sucker for white lace these days, so it's no wonder that this laced beauty caught my eye. I love the arms and the length of this dress, very flirty feminine! High tea in the garden anyone?

I had a huge crush on playsuits last year, so it's great to see that these bad boys are still present for 2011. I love the colours and belt detailing of this Topshop version, and I can imagine this with a pair of killer heels, how fierce!

I've been keeping an eye out for new sunnies (another pun!), and noticed these stunners from Cutler and Gross. I want a quirky pair that are fun to wear and these fit the bill perfectly! I love the colour too, so much nicer than boring black.

There are so many new items that I love, but I'll have to stop the list here before I get carried away! I can't wait for spring to arrive, it's going to be a goodie for all of us I feel!

Much love!

New Hue, New You!

Recently I've been feeling a bit blah about my hair colour - since shifting from blonde to brunette, my colour has been created by several home-dye jobs (thanks to my patient loved ones) and harsh British water (which is not so kind on colour). The result = mousey light brown, with blonde bits creeping through.

So when the lovely team at Wahanda sent me a £50 spa gift voucher I was over the moon! Finally I could go to a lovely salon and get them to give me a new colour, conveniently in time for the new year. I jumped onto the Wahanda site and easily found a hairdresser that specialised in colour, accepted Wahanda spa gift vouchers and was located in an area I knew well. I ended up choosing Compton Hair & Beauty in Covent Garden and was looked after by a great guy who helped me choose a hot new colour for 2011, while telling me how much he wanted to travel to NZ (bonus points)!

See the results below...

Make up: M.A.C Bronzing Powder (Golden), M.A.C Shimmer Blush (Peachy Keen), Topshop Eyeshadow Palette (Beetle), Sephora Khol Pencil (Black), Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara (Black), NARS Lip Gloss (Chihuahua)

2011 Colour!

I'm quite liking being reddy-brown for a change, and have been told that I could even go redder! We'll see what happens, I could have Rihanna's hair colour before you know it!

Thanks to the beautiful team at Wahanda, what a great treat! So easy to use and so rewarding! If you're wondering what to get your loved ones, definitely buy them a Wahanda spa gift voucher, they'll love you for it! Or treat yourself to a little pampering delight!
