G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S

Sooo, in the weekend I went to the opera and it was oh so much fun! My darling Bella took me as her date and neither of us had been to an opera before so it was quite exciting! The performance was spectacular and somewhat funny (who knew operas could also be comedies?), the costumes were stunning, we were schmoozing with the city’s elite and boy oh boy, do the elite know how to dress! Never before had I seen so many dapper men and glamorous women all in one place. I saw numerous tuxes, strapless dresses, sequinned gowns and shimmering jewels. Sublime.

So below is a collection of fancy pants clothing, accessories and beauty items. Why? Because, as Ludacris said, you deserve nothing but all the finer things. I have quite a few favourites in this selection, one of which is the gorgeous Stella McCartney Printed Satin Ruffle Dress. Everything about this dress screams cocktail party – the colours, the frou frou shoulder and the length of the dress itself. I generally find that cocktail dresses sit above the knee and are quite funky, while black tie gowns are generally longer and more elegant. My most favourite item of this collection is the Christian Louboutin Lady Claude 120 Pumps. These detailed silver beauties are just divine. If I owned these darlings, I’d incorporate them into every outfit. And do you know what? I reckon they’d work with all of my clothes too. Sigh, such a crush. You couldn’t wear the Stella McCartney number & the Louboutins without the Maison Martin Margiela Hammered Brass Round Ring. No way josé! These three items would be my ultimate cocktail party outfit. So stunning. I’d work the ring into everyday wear too...may as well!

For more of a black tie event, I’d wear the Kate Sylvester Theodora Long Gown, the Emilio Pucci Asymmetric Jersey Dress or the Marchesa Embellished Silk-Chiffon Gown. These three dresses all symbolise elegance in my mind, with their lengths, fabric and muted tones. Not too showy, not too hoochie and not too same same.

Notice how Miss Selfridge has a collection of Gossip Girl-inspired outfits too – you can choose whether you want to be Blair, Serena, Vanessa, Jenny etc. Fun! I really feel like going to another fancy event now, dressing up is just so much fun!

And remember, if you ain’t got no money, take your broke ass home.
